In the Land of Flip Flops

You have to love how the internet has given us the opportunity to share our crafty talents all across the world.  This morning I found this link on my Facebook news feed thanks to my friend Mirna Quinonez.  It’s a tutorial on how to embellish plain flip flops.

This video looks like it’s from the Sabor de Vida show on the Brazilian TV station Aparecida.  My Portuguese is very rusty as I don’t have anyone to practice with.  But the language of craft does not need translation.  She used about 8 yards of ribbon and assorted beads that she attached to the sandal with macrame stitches.  It takes her less than 1 hour to do a pair.

Flip flops must be on sale as Fall is right around the corner.  Take advantage and stock up.  Northern ladies can work on next summer’s sandals.  For us in Florida, flip flops are worn year round so the satisfaction of wearing them will come sooner.  What a great way to add a little bling to your stride.
